Project description: The project includes the modernisation of two major departments (the Gynaecology department and Obstetrics and Neonatology department) in three building zones of the "Ludwik Rydygier Hospital" in Krakow.
The proposed design offers a functional solution, that connects various facilities like group therapy, the birth centre with treatment rooms and delivery rooms, and surgery rooms. The project preserves the existing infrastructure of stairways and corridors running through the entire length of the building.
To comply with the required regulations for the functional separation of areas the projects offers new circulation solutions through a combination of internal corridors and the two external links along the building facade.
The Gynaecological and Obstetric Department hosts 31 beds and is divided into the sections of maternity, pregnancy and gynaecological pathology. Visitors have their own bathrooms.
The Neonatology Department is divided into ten areas for newborns including a neonatal room, intensive care, continuous and intermediate care rooms, a neonatal watch list room and a preterm room.
Units are fully accessible for people with disabilities and equipped with the newest medical technology.
