  • Project Name: PKP Energetyka Southern Headquarters Interior Design
  • Location: Cracow, Poland
  • Year: 2011-2012
  • Completed: 2015
  • Area: 3 000 m2
  • Service: Interior Design
  • Stages: RIBA A-L
  • Client: PKP Energetyka S.A.
  • Project description:
Commissioned by PKP Energetyka this project includes office- and conference spaces for the southern headquarters, a warehouse and a repair shop for trains. The four storey office building of Class B + standard is equipped with a reception, customer service area, a large conference room and a canteen on the ground floor. The upper floors accommodate office spaces for the staff and management board. The compact building is largely glazed to the south and east side and equipped with a continuous vertical louver system.
The design principles of the exterior vertical divisions are continued in the interior with the use of a suspended wooden slats ceiling system in the whole foyer area. The ceiling is a continuation of the outer louvers and is giving the impression as if the vertical blinds fold around to the inside of the building. Between the wooden ceiling elements are long light fixtures on an irregularly spacing located to create the effect of movement and dynamic. In addition to the muted colours of grey the foyer is cladded with wall panels made of sheet copper, which is associated to the energy transporting material used in cables and is also the colour that is occurring in the logo of the company.
The other colour of the logo is yellow what is used to accent the stairwell that is visible through the glass doors from the outside.
Some furniture were bespoke on request. For example the reception desk on the top floor is shaped like the logo of the client.
