 / PKP Energetyka Southern Headquaters

  • Project Name: PKP Energetyka Southern Headquarters
  • Location: Cracow, Poland
  • Year: 2011-2012
  • Completed: 2015
  • Area: 3 000 m2 / MP: 1.6 ha
  • Service: Architecture, Full Engineering, Interior Design
  • Stages: RIBA A-L
  • Client: PKP Energetyka S.A.
  • Project description:
Commissioned by PKP Energetyka this project includes office- and conference spaces for the southern headquarters, a warehouse and a repair shop for trains. The four floor office building of Class B+ standard is equipped with a reception, customer service area, a large conference room and a canteen on the ground floor. The upper floors accommodate office spaces for the staff and management board. The compact building is largely glazed to the south and east side and equipped with a continuous vertical louver system. PKP Energetyka's new headquarters will be located close to the railway tracks and represents therefore an important signage and advertisement for the company, which is transporting every day thousands of people across the country. The vertical louver system is not only serving as sun blinds for the large glass facade, but furthermore creates a visual effect of changing transparencies for travellers passing by trains.

This effect of motion is reinforced at night time through an up and down moving LED lighting system on the Edge of the vertical fins.
